Truecaller Live Caller ID: feature lets you instantly identify the name or identity of a person calling from an unknown number. While Android users can use this feature directly, due to Apple’s privacy and data collection policies, Truecaller Live Caller ID could not be used directly on iPhone. However, the wait for iPhone users is ending. Alan Mamedi, co-founder and CEO of Truecaller, announced that the Live Caller ID feature can now be used directly on iPhones running iOS 18.
In a post on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), Mamedi wrote, “We hope that iPhone users will be able to fully use Truecaller very soon,” and shared a screenshot of iOS 18-related documentation supporting Truecaller’s Live Caller ID.
Many of Truecaller’s services have been restricted on iPhones due to the privacy and security policies of iOS. Third-party apps on iPhones cannot access phone call or SMS information. As a result, Truecaller cannot retrieve users’ call or SMS history to display the Live Caller ID on iPhone. Last year, Truecaller introduced the Live Caller ID feature for iPhone through the virtual assistant Siri. Although it cannot be used directly, iPhone users can identify unknown callers by saying, “Hey Siri, search Truecaller.”
How to Change Your Name in Truecaller
If someone calls from an unknown number, many people use Truecaller to identify them. However, incorrect names or contacts sometimes appear in the app. If your name or contact is incorrectly saved in Truecaller, it can be easily changed. Here’s how:
From a smartphone:
- Open the app and tap the profile icon.
- Tap the “Edit Profile” option.
- Enter the correct name and information.
- Save the changes.

- Visit the Truecaller website and sign in with your email.
- Enter your phone number in the search box.
- Tap “Suggest Name” and update the information.
The new name will appear within 1-2 days.
